"I see little reason to delay giving when so much good can be achieved through supporting worthwhile causes today." -- Chuck Feeney, visionary philanthropist and founder of The Atlantic Philanthropies.
Billionaire philanthropist Chuck Feeney has no interest in "taking it with him." By 2016, his foundation will have donated more than $7 billion to worthy causes around the world. Is he the most generous man on the planet?

Early Entrepreneurship

Chuck Feeney was an entrepreneur from an early age – selling Christmas cards door-to-door and teaming with a friend to shovel sidewalks during snowstorms. After high school, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Signals Intelligence in Japan during the Korean War. He took advantage of the GI Bill to attend Cornell University, becoming the first member of his family to go to college. Upon graduation, Chuck started a business selling goods to American troops stationed in Europe that eventually became Duty Free Shoppers, the world’s largest luxury goods retailer.

Founding Atlantic

Chuck Feeney believes fervently that people who have been fortunate to amass great wealth should use their wealth for a greater good. He established The Atlantic Philanthropies in 1982, which have since made grants totaling more than $6.5 billionfocused on promoting education, health, peace, reconciliation and human dignity—primarily in AustraliaBermudaNorthern Ireland, the Republic of IrelandSouth Africa, the United States and Viet Nam. In the mid-1980s, Chuck quietly transferred virtually all of his assets to The Atlantic Philanthropies; for the first half of Atlantic’s history, its grantmaking was done anonymously.
Known for his frugality, Chuck Feeney owns neither a home nor a car and wears a $15 watch.

Accelerating Research, Health Care and Higher Education

Chuck Feeney makes big investments to help solve today’s urgent problems. Atlantic’s Founding Chairman grants range from kick-starting universities across Ireland that propelled Ireland’s knowledge economy to seeding the creation of Cornell NYC Tech that will be a global magnet for tech talent and entrepreneurship.

Giving While Living

In his biography, The Billionaire Who Wasn’t, Mr. Feeney said, “I had one idea that never changed in my mind—that you should use your wealth to help people.”
Chuck Feeney’s philosophy of Giving While Living was an inspiration behind the Giving Pledge, an initiative created by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates to persuade many of the world’s wealthiest people to give the majority of their wealth to philanthropy.

TOO  MUCH TOO SOON? I sat there in the interview with a dear associate whose impression upon my life had been nothing but positive. She had no idea of my level of admiration for her professional demeanor, her kindness and honorable care for those whom she worked with, or her strong parenting which I had had the opportunity to admire from interactions that we had had as our youngest had both attended the same preschool institution. Yes, I was there to interview for a administrative position directly under her. It would have been the greatest position for me to be. Well, it still might be. Yeah... this is fresh. But I am agonizing because my level of comfort in a professional setting may have been too much, too soon. Let me share my shame in hopes that you won't make the same faux paux. I had been brought in for a second interview and was feeling VERY good (not overly confident, but strong) about being able to speak with other staff members who echoed everything that I...
I NEED A DEEP MAN Dorothea Manley Copyright 2014 I need a deep man A man who will look into the mirror and diagnose his own shit I need a someone who will not be afraid to sit and talk with me as I deliberate over my day of chaotic prose I need a deeper man who will not be afraid of the word DEEP A man who will open his heart to the transforming power of the totality of what God has for him to embrace within this woman who is as deep as the Nile and can swim it too... I need a deep man who can run his fingers through my nappy hair and not whence at cottony softness that embellishes this crown He has to be deeper than me to contain this heart that dreams of a life poured into a cast iron skillet and fried up to perfection These thighs are not small or improperly structured to fit around his But they are perfection as God has molded me to him Yes, he has to be deep and not afraid of his own greatness or mine Deeper... It is only a state of freedom and...
GOOD MORNING! In my morning meditation walk at work, I was encouraged by Holy Spirit to remember and to remind you that GREATER IS HE WHO IS IN US THAN HE WHO IS IN THE WORLD! I want to encourage you to NEVER let anyone or any circumstance outside of you change, manipulate, contort or distort who God (CREATOR) created you to be! YOU ARE: Fearfully and wonderfully made and nothing less The head and not the tail and nothing less Above and not beneath and nothing less The righteousness of God and nothing less The manifested hope of times past and nothing less BECAUSE GOD IS GREATINYOU, YOU ARE GREATER THAN WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW AND NOTHING LESS! Head up! Shoulders back! Chest out! Now, let's go get it! Loving YOU to Life! Dorothea Manley, Project Speak Life
